The Issues
Vicki on Public Safety
- Work with the Baltimore County Police in their successful efforts to keep crime down
- Expand the School Resource Officer Program
- Provide Baltimore County Emergency Personnel - Police and Fire - with up-to-date technology and state-of-the-art training
- Maintain superior response times for 911 service
- Keep State Police Headquarters in Pikesville
Vicki on Education
- Secure the Gwynnbrook property as a future middle school site
- Provide all children with a quality education while keeping class size small and technology up to date
- Update aging school buildings
- Address underlying teacher retention issues while creating incentives to continue to attract the highest quality teachers
- Communicate with administration at all district schools both public and private/faith-based
- Extend and expand the Pre-K program in all schools
- Continue to work with the Maryland State Board of Education to enforce "Model Policy" to address bullying, harassment, and intimidation
- Support strong local rec and park leagues
Vicki on Economic Development
- Support development surrounding mass transit centers
- Continue to advocate the sale of the Rosewood Property to Stevenson University to provide them much needed space for their sports program and provide green space for the surrounding community
- Expand revitalization programs for Baltimore County's "Main Streets"
- Encourage small business growth
- Support development projects that will add vibrancy and stability to our communities
Vicki on the Environment
- Support Smart Growth
- Expand "green" thinking
- Create additional recycling opportunities
- Support and maintain Robert E. Lee Park
- Expand opportunities for bike paths throughout the county to promote healthy living
- Oversee and maintain infrastructure such as roads and sidewalks
Vicki on Community
- Support the Renaissance concept of redeveloping older communities located inside the URDL (Urban Rural Demarcation Line)
- Maintain all of the essential services provided by county government (education, public safety, sanitation, public works ect.)
- Improve the quality of life in our older communities to attract new families
Vicki on Accountability
- Appoint Committee to review Baltimore County Charter
- Support government transparency and eliminate government waste
- "Open door" to council office for citizens and businesses to discuss community issues
Vicki on Senior Citizens
- Maintain crucial activities and programs
- Provide appropriate resources to meet the needs of our seniors
- Encourage volunteerism from the community to aid seniors and use the knowledge of our senior population to aid our community
